Known from coast of Atlantic Ocean (Ref. 188, 12735, 12749, 30305), mainly north of Freetown and south of Sherbro Island (Ref. 12735). It is found in shallow waters close to the shore, but moves offshore towards the edge of the shelf during the height of the rainy season, when salinity drops below 3.5% (Ref. 12735). It is a primary fishing target of the 'Ghana boats' (Ref. 12749). Also Ref. 4743.
